Client Guide
Everything you need to know before your first session at node & needle.
Our goal is to make your experience feel seamless, supportive, and personal from the moment you reserve. Below, you'll find curated answers to the most common questions we receive. If something isn’t covered here, we’re just a message away.
How do I know which service to choose?
If you're unsure where to start, we recommend reserving a consultation. We’ll discuss your goals and help you choose the best approach, whether it’s lymphatic care, skin revision, or a combination of both.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes — consultations are required for all paramedical tattooing services and available for anyone seeking guidance on lymphatic care. They can be held in person or virtually and are designed to help you feel confident and informed before beginning your plan.
What should I expect during a lymphatic session?
Lymphatic therapy is not a traditional massage. Techniques are rhythmic, precise, and designed to stimulate your lymphatic system. You’ll remain draped, comfortably supported, and guided through every part of the process. More about this can be found on our service pages.
What’s the difference between inked and inkless treatments?
Inked camouflage uses custom-blended pigment to conceal visible scars or stretch marks. Inkless revision relies on serums and needling to soften texture and stimulate collagen. Some clients may need both methods over time.
Do I need more than one session?
Yes — nearly all paramedical tattooing clients benefit from a series of sessions to allow the skin to heal and respond gradually. Lymphatic clients may also benefit from a structured care plan, especially post-op or prenatal.
Do you numb for tattoo services?
We do not use topical numbing. Most clients report very little discomfort due to reduced sensation in scar tissue. Pain is typically described as a 3 or 4 on a 10-point scale.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
You’ll receive an email with details before your first session. Generally, we recommend arriving hydrated and wearing loose, comfortable clothing. For tattooing, please avoid sun exposure, self-tanner, and blood-thinning medications prior to treatment.
Where are you located?
We’re inside Thrive Wellness Center in Milford, Ohio, just east of Cincinnati. Clients come to us from Indian Hill, Mariemont, Loveland, Milford, Terrace Park, Goshen, Blue Ash, Montgomery and other surrounding communities.
Are you affiliated with Cincinnati Massage for Mental Health?
Yes. node & needle is a boutique studio created by the founder of Cincinnati Massage for Mental Health. While each brand serves a distinct purpose, they share the same clinical foundation and trauma-informed approach. node & needle memberships may be used at either location, and select services may overlap depending on your needs.
