Most lymphatic techniques were created nearly a century ago. They were effective for the bodies and lifestyles of that time, but the demands placed on our bodies and nervous systems today look very different. Chronic stress, long hours sitting, digital overload, disrupted sleep, hormonal shifts, and inflammation all influence how well the lymphatic system can do its job.

NeuroSomatic Lymphatic Drainage™ was developed to meet those modern realities.
This proprietary method is the result of two years of focused development and blends advanced lymphatic science with nervous system regulation, craniosacral influence, and glymphatic pathways. It reflects more than twenty years of body-based work, clinical mental health experience, and extensive lymphatic education. It is available only at node & needle.
Before I specialized in lymphatic health, I worked as a mental health therapist supporting clients through trauma, grief, anxiety, and chronic stress. That background shaped the way I understand the body’s responses to overwhelm and why the nervous system must be included in any effective lymphatic approach.
Why the NeuroSomatic Approach Matters
Your lymphatic system relies on movement, breath, fascia, and a regulated nervous system. When the body stays in a heightened state of activation, lymph flow slows. Tissue becomes congested. Clients often feel puffy, swollen, tired, or mentally foggy.
NeuroSomatic Lymphatic Drainage™ supports both the lymphatic system and the nervous system so the body can release congestion without force.
Vagus nerve work for nervous system regulation
The vagus nerve plays a key role in helping the body shift in and out of sympathetic activation. When its tone is low, people can get stuck in a heightened state where stress feels constant and the body has trouble settling. Our gentle techniques help stimulate and strengthen vagal tone so the nervous system can transition more effectively and efficiently. This can be especially supportive for anyone who feels chronically “stuck” in fight or flight mode.
Glymphatic and craniosacral-inspired techniques for cognitive clarity
This part of the method uses gentle, structured work along the craniosacral rhythm and glymphatic pathways to support how the brain and central nervous system move, clear, and recycle fluid. The glymphatic system plays an important role in clearing metabolic waste proteins such as beta amyloid and alpha synuclein. These proteins are widely studied in relation to conditions like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other forms of dementia.
When glymphatic flow slows, many people notice changes long before illness. This can feel like mental heaviness, cognitive fatigue, slower processing, or difficulty concentrating.
By supporting natural cerebrospinal fluid movement and easing restrictions along the head, neck, and upper spine, this approach helps create the conditions that allow the glymphatic system to work more efficiently. Clients often describe feeling mentally clearer, more focused, and more grounded. These changes arise through improved regulation rather than force, allowing the system to settle into a state where clarity can return.
Fascial pathways that influence lymph mobility
Targeted work along fascial lines helps open the spaces where lymph naturally moves. This supports fluid movement without overstimulating the system.
Clinical body-based therapy principles woven throughout
NeuroSomatic Lymphatic Drainage™ is informed by my background in clinical mental health, somatic therapy, and the study of how stress and emotion shape tissue patterns. This allows the method to support both emotional regulation and physical drainage in a cohesive, grounded way.
How This Method Differs From Traditional MLD
Traditional Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses gentle, rhythmic movements in a structured sequence. It supports basic lymphatic flow and offers a calming, predictable experience. It remains a respected starting point in the field and is especially appropriate for clients who need the softest touch or a very simple approach.
NeuroSomatic Lymphatic Drainage™ builds on that foundation but reflects a more current understanding of lymphatic health, nervous system science, and whole person care. It is a method I have spent the past two years developing and integrates several evidence informed elements.
• Traditional lymphatic drainage principles • Targeted vagus nerve stimulation to support nervous system regulation • Craniosacral and glymphatic techniques that enhance cognitive clarity and head and neck drainage • Gentle myofascial work and stretching to ease tension and improve overall function
The session adapts moment by moment based on tissue quality, inflammation, autonomic state, breathing patterns, and the emotional load a client may be carrying. This creates an experience that feels grounding and spacious rather than mechanical. Clients often describe feeling clearer, calmer, and more connected to their bodies.
Who This Work Supports
NeuroSomatic Lymphatic Drainage™ is well suited for those navigating:
persistent puffiness or fullness
sensory overload
mental fog or cognitive fatigue
hormonal congestion
autoimmune fluctuations
chronic stress patterns
fluid retention linked to lifestyle demands
general lymphatic sluggishness
It is also a steady support for long-term wellness and nervous system balance.
A Method Available Only at node & needle
